For the Least of These

The King will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least
of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25: 40

Anastancia is a Christian. She is blind, widowed and lives on $24 a month. She has two children, Lucas (14 months) and Lurdes (13). Lurdes was born blind too. Her husband suffered from leprosy and passed away in April. Often the $24 that she makes from making baskets, carpets and ropes does not provide for her humble needs. She is often seen on the streets begging. Her husband's family kicked her out of their house soon after he died. So she added homeless to her list of challenges.

A Christian family heard of her need and blessed her with a Green Door house. What a practical way for the body of Christ to demonstrate compassion, justice and mercy. What a wonderful way for Anastancia to know that God has not forgotten her and has a plan to give her a hope and a future.

There are so many that suffer in Dondo like Anastancia. There is Dorca, an AIDS widow who has six children and is about to give birth to her seventh; or Victorina, an AIDS mother and widow whose mud home will not be able to withstand one more rainy season.

The Green Door exists to be the hammer and nails for those who want to help. Not everyone can go but everyone can pray and many can give. We are looking for those willing to donate towards a house ($1500) or any amount to help pay for the gas, tools, and vehicle maintenance that it takes to run this ministry. You can go online to www.childrensrelief.org and select: Give to our Projects>Ray of Light>Green Door Housing.

For the first time in her life, Anastancia has a place to call home and can face the rainy season without fear. Thanks to all who so generously pick up the hammer and nails and pound away at eliminating poverty.

Anastancia has been blessed with a Green Door house!

Our Green Door house can protect from robbers, mosquitoes and rain.

Manuel and Cindy present the house to Anastancia.  We
have found that when the donor writes a letter to the
recipient it is a very powerful way for them to connect.

It is difficult to be widowed, sick and no means
to support your family.  Not having a safe
home makes the burden unbearable.

Victorina's home - it will not make it through the next rainy season.
